Day 9!
‘Water is fluid, soft, and yielding. But water will wear away rock, which is rigid and cannot yield. As a rule, whatever is fluid, soft, and yielding will overcome whatever is rigid and hard. This is another paradox: what is soft is strong.’ ~ Lao Tzu
“Don't get set into one form, adapt it and build your own, and let it grow, be like water. Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless — like water. Now you put water in a cup, it becomes the cup; You put water into a bottle it becomes the bottle; You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.” - Bruce Lee
Day 10!
Yoga Sūtra Chapter Two verse 48
ततो द्वङ्द्वानभिघातः ॥४८॥
tataḥ dvandva-anabhighātaḥ ||48||
From that, one is not troubled by the pair of opposites.
By mastery of the asanas, the yogi is no longer overcome by opposites and dualities like victory and defeat, heat and cold, joy or sorrow, honour or dishonour. The yogi becomes a more tolerant person.
Day 11!
ZOOM LINK Class 10am Vancouver Time
‘You can call me a sinner
Or you can call me a saint
Celebrate me for who I am
Dislike me for what I ain't
Put me up on a pedestal
Or drag me down in the dirt
Sticks and stones will break my bones
But your names will never hurt
Because
This is who I am
You can like it or not
You can love me
Or leave me
'Cause I'm never gonna stop, no no ~ Madonna (song Like it or Not)

Haṭha Pradīpikā Chapter One verse 15
अत्याहारः प्रयासश्च प्रजल्पो नियमग्रहः ।
जनसङ्गश्च लौल्यं च षड्भिर्योगो विनश्यति ॥
atyāhāraḥ prayāsaśca prajalpo niyamagrahaḥ ।
janasaṅgaśca laulyaṁ ca ṣaḍbhiryogo vinaśyati ॥
Overeating, strenuous exertion or work, gossiping or frivolous conversations (too much talking), adhering to or following unhealthy rules or observances, being in the company of indiscriminate people and (mental) restlessness are the six (obstacles) through which Yoga is completely lost, destroyed and eliminated||15||
Day 13!
ZOOM LINK Class 7am Vancouver Time
“Tapas is derived from the Sanskrit root word “to heat”. The body is heated by tapas. THe body is like a vessel that principally contains water. We can purify it by heating with fire (Agni). By practicing tapas, we can keep the body well. Only through tapas, one can master the senses. The most important practice for tapas is MODERATION IN FOOD HABITS. DO NOT OVEREAT.” - T Krishnamacharya
“(To attain success in yoga), deep desire, faith, courage, perseverance, Sattvic (pure) and limited food - are required…one should practice daily at an appropriate time with devotion, sincerity and respect and without going against how it was taught by the guru (teacher).”
-T Krishnamacharya
“The whole system functions on the strength of mind.
Mind is affected by what we eat.
‘Our mind is like our food‘.
Tapas is to discipline our eating habits.”
– T Krishnamacharya on Yoga Sūtra Chapter Two verse 1
Day 14!
Haṭha Pradīpikā Chapter One verse 16
उत्साहात् साहसात् धैर्यात् तत्त्वज्ञानाच्च निश्चयात् ।
जनसङ्गपरित्यागात् षड्भिर्योगः प्रसिद्ध्यति ॥
utsāhāt sāhasāt dhairyāt tattvajñānācca niścayāt ।
janasaṅgaparityāgāt ṣaḍbhiryogaḥ prasiddhyati ॥
Yoga is attained or accomplished through six things: by means of the enthusiasm or zeal, fearlessness or courage, perseverance or determination, discrimination or knowledge of the Truth and unshakable faith, conviction and resolution; (as well as) by abandoning the company of (common) people||16||
